1998 volkswagon golf. I replaced the oil pressure gauge and now the oil light is on. Is the new gauge faulty?

I have checked the oil and the levels are fine.

   If you checked both the sensor and the gauge and have determined that the gauge was at fault, and assuming you have installed the new gauge correctly, I would think that the new gauge is defective.

   Just in case, check all connections from the engine to the gauge, if those are correct, it’s the gauge.
