Germans and Russians have a long history of interaction. German settlers lived in Russia for centuries until the anti-European Soviet regime.
@luisnitro91 because Russians have what Germans need (oil and gas) but unlike Mexicans have a means to protect it (what Russians proved many, many times in history, especially to Germans). Unlike Mexicans Russians are not willing to sell their oil and gas for products they can produce themselves. Russia produces its own advanced weapons including nuclear deterrent, airplanes, ships, trucks, building machinery, food… and does not need anyone. Russia is the only self-sufficient nation!
