you could have it done but it would be very expensive. if you haven’t purchased the car yet I woukd recommend just going after a convertible.

Its very difficult. You see, the beetle convertible is engineered to be a convertible. That is to say, a stiffer chassis, stiffer windshield pillars, etc. Think of it this way. Take a shoebox, with the top on try to twist it. stiff right? Now, remove the top, its very flexible. The same principle is with convertibles. I would highly advise you NOT DO IT. Go buy a convertible beetle.

Deet Da Dee. Just buy a rag top.

Anything is possible – it is just how much your wallet can afford. I think it would be cheaper to buy one that is already a convertible. Plus you have the safety issue, of did they do it right and other problems as well as being out of a car for a few weeks. Think about it.

Why would you destroy a good little car by cutting its roof off???? Youll loose all of its strength Like cutting one side out of a shoe box! Dont do it. Paint it up nice & retrim the inside that will add value to it as well. If you want a convertable buy a factory one where it is fully strengthend & heap nicer than a’homemade’ one Good luck

On the New Beetle it’s much more expensive than converting an Old Beetle. Expensive, like the other poster said.
The real convertible, the chassis has been reinforced, as it loses stiffness when the roof’s removed. In a custom-made one, you’d still have to deal with that problem.
Best just trade it in for a convertible one.
